Studio Nimmersatt, a Bali-based lighting design agency and recipient of the 2023 Casambi Award for Best Project, has mastered the art of hospitality lighting. Their portfolio amply demonstrates this. Collaborating with partners Ascendo Lighting and Glow Control, they’ve cleverly incorporated Casambi’s wireless lighting control system into their designs, transforming destinations across Bali into enchanting spaces. Let’s take a look at four remarkable projects that showcase the trio’s talent for crafting unforgettable ambiances.
Shady Fox
Pererenan in southern Bali recently welcomed a new gem, the Shady Fox speakeasy bar. Teaming up with Leon Design Agency, this project oozes intimacy and relaxation, largely due to low-intensity lighting. Studio Nimmersatt has orchestrated different lighting scenes throughout the evening to create a dynamic dance of illumination that mirrors the ebb and flow of the night. But what truly sets Shady Fox apart is its use of color. The bar itself bathes in a mesmerizing array of hues, each invoking different moods and emotions. Red energizes, blue invokes tranquility, and purple reduces stress, creating a space for rest and reprieve.

Café Batu Jimbar
Café Batu Jimbar in Sanur, Bali, recently underwent a remarkable transformation, preserving its cherished heritage while embracing contemporary design principles. Studio Nimmersatt and Aldo Felix breathed new life into this café, using Casambi’s control system to transition seamlessly from a cozy living room setting to a captivating late-night chill bar. The result is a space that respects tradition while embracing the possibilities of the future. Café Batu Jimbar has redefined the art of timeless transformation, offering an atmosphere that adapts to the rhythms of the day and the preferences of its patrons.

For Segno, the hidden speakeasy in Canggu, Studio Nimmersatt and Aldo Felix have created a bar environment where warm lighting tones set the stage for Chillax mode. The primary lighting, featuring linear lines with a gentle 2200K color temperature, bathes the space in a soft, cozy radiance. Over the tables, 2700K accent lighting adds depth and character, creating an intimate and inviting atmosphere. Casambi’s wireless lighting control system plays a pivotal role in shifting seamlessly from welcoming evening scenes to a more mesmerizing night mode.

Club Soda
Club Soda, another hidden gem in the bustling heart of Canggu, has been lovingly illuminated by Studio Nimmersatt to create a captivating ambiance that skillfully balances fun and coziness. The crowning glory is the long-standing bar counter, the heart of the space, backlit with a soft pink glow from LED strips behind glass blocks, juxtaposed with warm-white lighting for the surrounding area. An array of 114 glass jars lines up behind the bar counter, each holding Bali’s local ingredients and more. Integrated with dimmable Osram Coin lights, these jars come to life, casting a mesmerizing spell on the space. With Casambi’s wireless technology, Club Soda transforms from a welcoming daytime setting to a dimmed spectacle in the late-night scene, creating intrigue and sensationalism.

A common thread in all of these projects is their expert use of Casambi’s wireless lighting control system, which has been used to elevate the spaces to extraordinary heights (and simply delights us Casambians to see!). Through careful orchestration of lighting scenes and the use of color and technology, Studio Nimmersatt, Ascendo Lighting, Glow Control and their partners have created spaces that are not just well-lit but truly enchanting.
“In our projects like Segno, Club Soda, Luma, and John Hardy, we deliberately opt for Casambi. These are all renovation gigs where the buildings are already standing, and we’re giving them a fresh look. For example, Luma used to be a villa, now turned into a restaurant downstairs and a speak-easy bar (Segno) on the upper floor. Casambi’s ease of installation suits these projects well. Same goes for Club Soda, which was once a restaurant and is now a speak-easy bar.” Said Rara Rina Pusthika, Founder of Studio Nimmersatt, adding:
