GLOW, as in Geographical Lighting of Wikipedia, is a competition entry by André Torres, Gergana Kakrinska and Matúš Jaklovský admitted to a student competition during the Munich Light Week.
The idea behind GLOW is to emphasize the analogy between knowledge and light. As Wikipedia is one of the most important knowledge platforms with over 40 million articles, the team decided to light up the place on the map of Europe from where an article was uploaded to Wikipedia, in real time.
While watching the map different areas light up and the team's aim to show in a dynamic way the changes on an information platform using light is well achieved. The control of the light sources is done with a Casambi lighting control solution.
