Los Mochis
Los Mochis is the global pioneer of pairing Mexican and Japanese cuisines, showcasing the vibrancy, passion, and heat of Mexico while celebrating the cool elegance and precision of Japan. Elevated above Broadgate Circle, Los Mochis London City offers unparalleled panoramic views, presenting a dining experience unlike any other in the heart of London.
A Visionary Dining Destination
Curated by Chef Leonard Tanyag, the venue provides guests with diverse dining experiences: from the energetic main dining area with a sushi bar to a scenic rooftop terrace, an intimate private dining room, and the luxurious Agaveria & Lounge. Each space offers a unique ambiance, providing a retreat from the bustling city below.
The vision for the project originated from Markus Thesleff of the Thesleff Group, with interior design by OV & Co and architecture by Woods Hardwick. The lighting scheme was meticulously crafted by dpa London, incorporating Agave fibre pendants and a hand-woven willow tunnel by willow artist Cherry Chung. These elements, featuring fully tuneable white lighting (1800K-4000K) from PHOS, the multi-award-winning British architectural lighting manufacturer, allow for a seamless transition from a fresh, neutral white in the morning to a warm, candle-lit glow in the evening—creating an intimate dining experience that contrasts beautifully with the towering skyline of the Square Mile.
Innovative Lighting & Smart Control Integration
An advanced Casambi wireless lighting control system was implemented, and delivered by Atrium Ltd featuring:
471 nodes in total
- 157x CBU-A2D with custom profiles for tuneable white (1800-4000K)
- 190x CBU-ASD
- 20x CBU-TED
- 80x TRED-E-CSB-2A
- 6x CBU-RELAY
- 6x CBU-DALI20
- 4x Casambi Cloud Gateways
- 8x CBU-8PUSH
Smart lighting & Automation
Due to the size of the venue and the structural layout, five independent Casambi networks were established:
- Ground Floor/Entrance
- Main Restaurant 1
- Main Restaurant 2
- Terrace
- Bathrooms
The restaurant operates midweek from 8 AM to 1 AM, with cleaning and kitchen prep occurring throughout the night, meaning the space is occupied 24hrs a day. The lighting system is fully automated, transitioning seamlessly through different scenes—morning, afternoon, evening, late evening, and cleaning/prep—adjusting seamlessly in both brightness and correlated color temperature.
Staff have access to iPads with user credentials, allowing manual control where needed, alongside strategically placed switches for staff overrides . The Casambi system is integrated with the fire alarm, ensuring an immediate override in case of an emergency, ensuring all lights switch to 100% brightness for maximum visibility.
Special Features
A private dining room is equipped with an animation scene tailored for food & drink pairing events . The lighting adjusts dynamically to match the format of each event, enhancing the overall experience for customers.
A Culinary & Visual Masterpiece
The integration of Casambi’s wireless lighting control system with PHOS architectural luminaires has delivered an unparalleled experience at Los Mochis London City, where world-class cuisine meets cutting-edge lighting technology. This project exemplifies the seamless fusion of design, functionality, and innovation, setting a new benchmark for modern hospitality lighting.
