Let’s meet the 2025 jury!

Yusuke Hattori, Lighting Designer / Founder, ambiguous, Singapore.

Yusuke leads ambiguous, a Singapore-based lighting design studio. The studio explores how light can regenerate environments and social systems while embracing natural rhythms. With a background in environmental phycology and years of experience across Asia, his work spans hospitality, cultural institutions, public spaces, and temporary art installations.

His design language is defined by restraint and clarity—eschewing superficial brightness in favour of nuanced, ambient light that fosters emotional depth, spatial calm, and environmental sensitivity. Yusuke brings a thoughtful perspective to lighting as a craft that merges aesthetics, sustainability, and social responsibility.

Simon Grennborg, Lighting Designer, Fagerhult, Sweden.

With a background in stage and theatrical lighting, Simon began his career in live productions, gaining hands-on experience with the artistic and technical aspects of performance lighting. This early foundation sparked a deep interest in how light shapes mood, narrative, and space. He later refined his expertise through studies in Lighting Design at Jönköping University. Over the years, he has worked extensively with lighting for restaurants, cinemas, and museums – with a consistent focus on creating thoughtful and engaging environments. Simon has also built solid technical competence in lighting control systems, including DMX and DALI programming for a wide range of applications. Today, he works as a Lighting Designer at Fagerhult.

Paula Longato, Regional Head of Lighting, Buro Happold, Germany.

Paula is the Regional Head of Lighting for Europe at Buro Happold, where she has built and led the lighting team since 2019, bringing together her architectural vision with deep lighting expertise. With her master’s degree in Architectural Lighting Design and over 20 years of experience illuminating spaces, Paula has developed an intuitive understanding of how light shapes human experience across cultures and contexts. Her projects span from intimate historic buildings to sprawling airports and cultural landmarks, many of which have earned recognition at prestigious lighting design awards across Germany, the UK, and the USA.

What drives Paula is the seamless marriage of daylight and artificial lighting systems within architecture—a philosophy that considers not just the technical aspects, but the user, environment, and cultural nuances of each space. She thrives on complexity, particularly drawn to multi-functional and historic buildings where the challenge lies in connecting spaces with different purposes and architectural languages through thoughtful lighting design.

Beyond her project work, Paula is a passionate advocate for the lighting industry’s evolution. As a member of the C:Lab Group at Buro Happold, she pushes boundaries through research and development, while her leadership role on the Board of the German Lighting Association (LiTG) demonstrates her commitment to advancing sustainability in lighting design. Her recent initiatives include creating the lighting sustainability prize for LiTG and curating “Licht hören,” an innovative podcast that brings lighting conversations to German-speaking audiences. Her groundbreaking research on lighting and inclusion recently earned her a special jury prize at the German Lighting Design Awards 2025, highlighting her dedication to making lighting more accessible and meaningful for everyone.

Fluent in Portuguese, German, and English, Paula brings a multicultural perspective that enriches every project and collaboration, making her an invaluable voice in shaping the future of lighting design.
