Blum Experience Center

Designed with both form and function in mind, the experience centre’s architecture balances openness and intimacy, allowing different zones to tell unique stories. Lighting plays a key role in shaping these narratives, enhancing the visual appeal of product displays while providing flexible ambience for events, meetings, and daily operations. 

To achieve this, Blum Singapore partnered with Illum-tec, a design and supply lighting specialist and a long-time Casambi ecosystem expert. Known for delivering highly customised, wireless solutions in commercial and hospitality spaces, Illum-tec brought their deep knowledge of lighting technology to design and implement a dynamic, scene-based control system that elevates the overall experience. 

Smart, Scalable Control with Casambi 

The lighting control solution deployed in the Blum experience centre includes 57 Casambi-enabled nodes, enabling wireless, seamless control across the entire space. The components include: 

• SALVADOR 1000 

• CBU-A2D 

• TCI DALI Casambi 4CH Interface 

• TCI DALI Casambi 8CH Interface 

• FLOS Spotlight Atom 120 

These devices work together to deliver a responsive, easy-to-manage system that adapts to the experience centre’s daily rhythms and special-use cases. 

At the core of the system is Casambi’s SALVADOR 1000, a DALI controller that seamlessly integrate wired DALI drivers into the Casambi system. When integrated, DALI luminaires appear as virtual luminaires in the Casambi network. It is a powerful, all-in-one control module that combines scalability, reliability, and intuitive configuration. Ideal for commercial applications, SALVADOR supports multiple device types and complex scenes while maintaining the wireless simplicity that Casambi is known for. 

The lighting fixtures themselves include the FLOS Atom 120 spotlight, a high-performance architectural luminaire that combines elegant design with precise optical control. Known for their craftsmanship and innovation, FLOS luminaires complement Blum’s architectural identity, offering crisp, focused lighting that highlights materials and textures in a refined, modern way. 

Scene-Based Functionality for Seamless Daily Operations 

The lighting solution is structured around a series of programmed timer-based and manual scenes, enabling the space to shift seamlessly between modes throughout the day: 

Timer-based scenes: 

• 08:30–08:45: Pre-opening mood 

• 08:45–17:30: Day mode for normal experience centre operation 

• 17:30–17:45: Pre-closing transition 

• 17:45–18:00: Closing mode 

• ALL_OFF: Turns off all lights 

Manual scenes for specific needs: 

• Infra: Controls selected lighting for infrastructure purposes 

• Constellation: Manual scene for highlighting specific zones 

• meetingRoom_INPROG: Activates when meetings are in progress 

• meetingRoom_FULLON: Switches meeting room lighting to maximum brightness 

• meetingRoom_OFF: Turns off meeting room lights after use 

This smart and flexible configuration allows Blum’s staff to focus on their work and customers, with lighting that automatically adapts to operational needs or can be adjusted instantly as required. 

Thanks to the partnership between Illum-tec and Casambi, the Blum Singapore experience centre now benefits from a reliable, scalable, and beautifully integrated lighting control solution, proving once again how wireless technology can empower design-driven spaces.
