Club Soda Canggu is an intimate speakeasy-style bar by the Locavore group, blending an in-house distillery, yakitori grill, and vinyl music kiosk within a warehouse-inspired space defined by industrial textures and eclectic design. Lighting plays a central role, with a dramatic pink backlit bar, softly illuminated glass jars, and warm ambient tones creating depth, contrast, and a cosy atmosphere. With Casambi-controlled scenes and energy-efficient design, the venue seamlessly transitions from day to night while enhancing both guest experience and sustainability.
Club Soda Canggu is an intimate bar concept by the renowned Locavore restaurant group, bringing their signature creativity from Ubud to the vibrant energy of Bali’s southern coast. Designed as a contemporary speakeasy, the venue combines an in-house distillery, yakitori grill, and vinyl music kiosk within a space that feels like a converted warehouse. Industrial finishes, raw textures, and an eclectic mix of mid-century furniture set the stage for a bar that is both relaxed and full of character.
Lighting plays a defining role in shaping the atmosphere after dark. Working closely with Agency X, Studio Nimmersatt developed a lighting concept built on contrast, colour, and intimacy. The long bar counter becomes the visual heart of the space, anchored by glass blocks backlit with soft pink LED light. This bold feature is balanced by warm white illumination throughout the surrounding areas, creating depth while keeping the overall mood inviting and comfortable.
Another striking design element is the row of 114 glass jars displayed behind the bar, each filled with locally sourced ingredients from Bali and beyond. Integrated dimmable LED coin lights within each jar bring the shelves to life, producing a subtle, mesmerising glow that highlights texture, colour, and craftsmanship without overpowering the space.
Casambi wireless control allows the lighting to adapt effortlessly throughout the day and night. Carefully programmed scenes support different moods, from a welcoming daytime setting to a more intimate evening ambience, and finally a darker, more atmospheric late-night scene. All luminaires operate at a warm 2700K, with smooth dimming that enhances comfort and creates a rich, cosy experience for guests.
Sustainability is built into the operation through intelligent scene-setting and scheduling. By adjusting light levels based on time of day and usage, energy consumption is reduced and luminaire lifespan is extended. The wireless nature of Casambi also simplifies installation and long-term maintenance, supporting a reliable and efficient lighting system.
Club Soda Canggu demonstrates how thoughtful lighting design, paired with intuitive Casambi control, can elevate a compact, complex interior into a memorable hospitality experience. The result is a small speakeasy bar with a strong identity, where lighting quietly enhances every detail and every moment.
