ESCĀ CUEVA
Project Concept
ESCĀ CUEVA is a bold architectural statement, seamlessly merging organic forms with contemporary design. Drawing inspiration from nature and the intricate beauty of the human body, the restaurant’s sculpted interior transforms rigid spatial constraints into a fluid, immersive experience. The interplay of curves and creases creates a harmonious balance between structure and softness, redefining the traditional dining environment.
At the heart of the design is the strategic use of lighting—both natural and artificial—to enhance spatial perception and evoke an inviting atmosphere. Carefully positioned luminaires accentuate the architecture’s undulating surfaces, while integrated lighting controls provide adaptable illumination that shifts with the ambiance.
Lighting Integration
The ESCĀ CUEVA restaurant features a sophisticated wireless lighting control system, seamlessly integrating Bluetooth-enabled technology to enhance the dining ambiance. The system is powered by Casambi and utilizes Tridonic’s basicDIM Wireless modules, offering intuitive, scene-based lighting control that adapts to different settings and moods.
The lighting control system incorporates the following components:
CBU-PWM4 – A Bluetooth-enabled, four-channel PWM dimmer for constant voltage LED applications. Positioned between a 12–24 V DC power supply and the LED load, it ensures dynamic, flexible lighting control.
basicDIM Wireless RWM CV 4CH – A four-channel PWM dimmer, optimized for constant voltage LED loads such as LED strips and LED modules. Operating on 12–24 V DC, it allows for individual or grouped control of multiple LED sources.
basicDIM Wireless 0-10V 2CH – A Bluetooth-enabled 2-channel dimming module, designed for 0–10V dimmable LED loads and luminaires. Powered by an external 12–24 V DC.
Together, these components create a seamless, wireless lighting network, allowing full dimming control, scene selection, and energy-efficient operation through the Casambi app. The result is an adaptive and immersive lighting experience that enhances both the architectural aesthetics and the overall dining atmosphere at ESCĀ CUEVA.
Execution
The execution of ESCĀ CUEVA’s organic design was made possible through advanced 3D modeling and computational design techniques. The digital model served as a blueprint for an intricate steel framework, meticulously crafted by skilled artisans and finished with layers of stucco. The resulting architecture embodies a seamless transition between digital precision and handcrafted artistry.
Lighting plays a crucial role in this transformation, emphasizing the interplay between shadows and textures. By integrating controlled lighting into the architectural form, the space takes on a dynamic quality, evolving throughout the day and offering guests an ever-changing experience.
A Sensory Escape
ESCĀ CUEVA redefines dining as an immersive architectural journey, where light, form, and materiality converge to create a captivating atmosphere. The restaurant’s fluid spatial design, coupled with cutting-edge lighting control, invites visitors into a sensory retreat—one that disconnects them from the outside world and offers a moment of serenity.
This project is a testament to the power of lighting and architecture to shape human perception and elevate the dining experience.
