Luminec delivered a modern lighting and control upgrade for the Seaplane Harbour, part of the Estonian Maritime Museum, after its 2024 renovation. Using Casambi wireless control, around one-third of the museum’s lighting now delivers precise, scene-based illumination for exhibits and pathways, fully synchronized with opening hours. The result is a flexible, easy-to-manage system that enhances visitor experience, ensures safety, and preserves the museum’s unique atmosphere.

The Estonian Maritime Museum’s Seaplane Harbour is one of the most visited cultural destinations in Estonia, and one of the most impressive maritime museums in Northern Europe. Following a full renovation completed at the end of 2024, the space needed a lighting and control solution worthy of its unique exhibits.

Luminec won the tender to upgrade the majority of the lighting fixtures and control systems, delivering a solution where around one-third of the museum lighting is now managed with Casambi technology. Using Casambi CBU-ASD devices, as well as Casambi for many exhibits and circulation areas, the museum now benefits from a highly flexible and intuitive lighting system.

The space itself is extraordinary: from the historic submarine Lembit to the icebreaker Suur Tõll, not to mention a seaplane replica, large aquariums, and immersive simulators. Each exhibit requires precise lighting, not just for visibility, but to preserve atmosphere and highlight detail.

With Casambi, lighting scenes are tailored to each exhibit, delivering exactly the right amount of light where it’s needed. These scenes are synchronized with museum opening hours, reducing the need for manual intervention while ensuring consistent lighting quality throughout the day.

Casambi also enhances visitor safety by controlling lighting along second-level pathways, creating clear and comfortable circulation routes for guests. And because the system is app-based and wireless, museum staff can easily adjust scenes as exhibits change, without relying on on-site technical support.

Simple, flexible, and future-proof, Casambi proved to be the ideal solution for a dynamic, evolving museum environment.
