Nước Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City brings Vietnamese home cooking into a refined space inspired by traditional Southern Vietnamese homes. Casambi wireless lighting control helps carry the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere from the sunlit afternoon into dinner.
Some restaurants make you think of home, even when the setting is a little more refined. Nước Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City has that feeling. Building on the 36-year legacy of Thanh Nien Restaurant, it brings Vietnamese home cooking into a new space, with the same sense of warmth and familiarity, just in a different setting.
Designed by Atelier tho.A, the interior takes inspiration from traditional Southern Vietnamese homes. There are wooden beams overhead, bamboo blinds, raw lime walls and plenty of rich timber. During the day, sunlight filters through the blinds and falls across the tables. The shadows shift as the light moves, bringing out the textures of the walls and wood. With greenery around the dining areas, the space feels calm and connected to the outdoors.
After sunset, the lighting takes on a bigger role. The aim is to keep that natural, comfortable feeling even when the daylight is gone. Soraa’s full-spectrum lighting helps food and materials look true to their colours, while carefully placed spotlights pick up the timber, bamboo screens and details around the room. Decorative lights add a softer glow over the dining areas, making the space feel cosy without becoming too dim.
The mood can change with the occasion, too. A table full of family and friends might call for something brighter and livelier, while a couple having dinner may prefer a softer, more intimate setting. Casambi wireless lighting control makes it easy for the team to adjust the lighting as needed, without having to change the setup itself.
CARA Lighting provided the lighting solution and commissioned the Casambi system, with 48 Casambi nodes and CBU-TED-LR and CBU-PWM4-LR control modules. This gives the restaurant flexibility to adjust different parts of the lighting and create the right atmosphere for the moment.
At Nước, the lighting doesn’t need to be the centre of attention. Sometimes it’s the sunlight across a wooden table; other times, it’s the warm glow over dinner as conversations carry on. These small details help the restaurant feel welcoming and familiar, while giving guests a chance to slow down, enjoy the food and spend time together.
