WOOBAR combines contemporary design, fabric features and dramatic lighting to create a space that shifts from a relaxed daytime lounge to a vibrant nightlife destination. Casambi wireless lighting control allows the lighting to adapt to cocktails, DJ sets and live performances.
WOOBAR at W Bangkok has two sides to it. During the day, it’s a place to sit down for a drink or meet friends in a relaxed setting. By night, the mood changes, with music, performances and lighting bringing a different energy to the space.
This contrast was at the heart of the interior concept, which takes inspiration from the idea of an alter ego. One side is chic and understated, the other bold and theatrical. The lighting helps express both, allowing the space to change character as the day moves into evening.
As the project involved renovating an existing space, major structural changes were limited. Instead, the design makes use of fabric features, distinctive ceiling details and a floor-lit stage to give the interior its character. Lighting brings out the texture and movement of these elements, helping them stand out without major changes to the existing structure.
During the day, softer lighting creates a comfortable setting for the lounge and lobby areas. As evening approaches, vibrant colours and more dramatic lighting effects shift the mood. The DJ area and performance stage add to the energy, turning the space into a livelier destination for music and entertainment.
Casambi wireless lighting control allows the team to adjust lighting scenes to suit these different uses. The lighting can be fine-tuned as the atmosphere changes, from a relaxed daytime setting to a more vibrant evening experience.
The lighting gives WOOBAR room to express both sides of its identity, keeping the space welcoming for a quiet drink while allowing for a more dramatic atmosphere when the music and performances begin.
