AlvinT Gallery was created for Indonesia Design Week 2025 as the “Room of Curiosities,” celebrating nearly two decades of the studio’s creative journey through objects, sketches, mock-ups, and personal inspirations. Inspired by a traditional cabinet of curiosities, the installation combines organic materials with dynamic tunable white lighting that shifts throughout the day to create a warm, immersive, hotel-like atmosphere. Using Casambi wireless controls and time-based scenes, the gallery operates sustainably and efficiently, transforming the space into a living, evolving experience of design and technology.
The Alvin T Gallery came to life for Indonesia Design Week 2025, designed by AlvinT with Glow Control. The installation, Room of Curiosities, celebrates nearly two decades of creative work, showcasing objects, sketches, and inspirations that shaped the studio’s design journey.
Inspired by a traditional cabinet of curiosities, the room presents fragments of the design process, including books, mock-ups, sketches, personal references, and discoveries, giving visitors a glimpse into the unseen moments that form the foundation of AlvinT’s work.
Lighting complements the gallery’s organic materials, including red brick, pebble floors, rattan, and natural fabrics, with a warm 2700K base tone. Tunable white lighting adapts throughout the day: 3300K in the morning, 3000K at midday, and back to 2700K at golden hour, creating a comfortable, hotel-like atmosphere. Indirect uplighting adds depth at 2400K, and after hours the space transitions to 2200K, with spotlights highlighting books, artworks, and plants, leaving a soft, intimate glow.
Casambi wireless control supports sustainability and flexible operation. Using Salvador controllers and Casambi CBU modules, all tunable white luminaires are programmed with time-based scenes. Lights automatically switch off at 1 AM and resume at 10 AM. This reduces cabling, simplifies installation, and ensures low-maintenance, energy-efficient operation.
The Room of Curiosities transforms the gallery into a living, evolving space. By combining organic materials with dynamic, circadian-controlled lighting, AlvinT Gallery delivers an immersive experience that changes throughout the day while showcasing thoughtful design, technology, and sustainability.
