Fox Friday Brewery brings the energy of the Tasmanian craft beer brand into a spacious Melbourne venue designed for long-form social dining and relaxed hospitality. The lighting design focuses on warmth, intimacy, and restraint, using carefully positioned pools of light and custom RGBW pendants to create atmosphere without overwhelming the space. Powered by Casambi wireless control, the system allows seamless scene changes throughout the day, supporting the venue’s evolving mood while remaining simple, flexible, and unobtrusive.

Fox Friday began in Hobart and has grown into one of Australia’s most distinctive craft beer brands. The Melbourne venue brings that same energy into a larger 200-plus capacity space, designed as both a brewery and a long-form social setting. It is not just somewhere to drop in for a drink, but a place designed to stay in, settle into, and return to.

The lighting approach follows that intention closely. Instead of leaning into typical brewery aesthetics, the focus is on atmosphere and restraint. Light is used quietly, not as a feature, but as something that shapes how the space unfolds through the day and into the night. Rather than flooding the interior, it forms pockets of warmth and clarity within the larger volume, giving the space an intimate feel even at scale.

Casambi wireless control gives the team the flexibility to support this without complexity. The lighting is programmed into simple scenes that follow the rhythm of service. Day, evening, and late-night settings shift smoothly, without manual intervention or fixed control points across the venue.

Custom RGBW feature pendants, suspended within recessed channels, play a subtle but important role in the spatial identity. Controlled through Casambi, they shift gently in tone across the day, responding to activity within the brewery and dining areas. Their behaviour can also be adjusted instantly when the mood or pace of the space changes.

Across the venue, fittings are carefully positioned to create pools of light rather than a uniform wash. This keeps focus on materiality and avoids visual noise. Tables feel more contained, circulation remains comfortable, and the brewery elements sit naturally in the background. Casambi makes this level of control straightforward, allowing individual zones or the entire space to be fine-tuned from a single interface.

The system stays out of sight, which is really the point. It just works in the background and lets the space do what it was designed to do.

Fox Friday shows how Casambi can support hospitality spaces built around mood and longevity. The lighting doesn’t try to define the experience. It simply holds it together, so people can stay a little longer without really noticing why.
