Michelin-starred Roganic Hong Kong brings together sustainable interior design, local produce, and thoughtful lighting. With Casambi wireless lighting control, the restaurant can adjust the light throughout the day, from a brighter lunch setting to a warmer, more relaxed evening atmosphere.

When Michelin-starred Roganic moved to its new home at Lee Garden One in Hong Kong, the restaurant brought with it the same focus on nature, sustainability, and seasonal produce that has always been part of Simon Rogan’s approach to food. The new interior, designed by local design studio Atelier E, continues that idea with upcycled local timber, recycled and reclaimed marble, and natural materials throughout the space.

The connection to nature also carries through to the menu. Roganic works with local suppliers and grows some of its own herbs and flowers at Hysan Urban Farm, just a short walk from the restaurant. It makes the experience feel connected to Hong Kong, from what is served on the plate to the materials and textures around it.

Lighting was designed to work quietly alongside all of this. Formalighting’s Moto-Combo 136 round recessed downlight provides focused light across the restaurant, helping to bring out the food, tables, and details of the interior while keeping the overall atmosphere warm and comfortable.

With Casambi wireless lighting control, the lighting can be adjusted easily throughout the day. The team can fine-tune the intensity, colour temperature, beam shaping, and movement of the light, giving them plenty of flexibility to create different settings.

During lunch, the lighting can feel brighter and more open. As the evening comes in, it can become warmer and more relaxed, following the change in daylight and the shift towards dinner service. Scenes can also be adjusted over time, making it easy to fine-tune the atmosphere as the restaurant settles into its new space.

There is something quite fitting about this approach. Roganic pays close attention to the ingredients, textures, and details that go into a dish, and the lighting does much the same with the space. It does not need to stand out. It simply helps the food and surroundings look their best.

From Atelier E’s sustainable interior to the local produce, herbs grown nearby, and lighting that changes with the rhythm of the day, the different parts of Roganic come together in a way that feels considered without feeling overly designed.
