The After Dark Chapters transforms the Singapore Discovery Centre into an immersive after-hours experience where lighting becomes part of the storytelling. Powered by Casambi wireless control, dynamic lighting scenes help shape each performance, challenge, and interactive space, creating a seamless journey from one chapter to the next.
The After Dark Chapters at the Singapore Discovery Centre transforms a familiar destination into something completely different after sunset. Created as the centre’s inaugural annual night-time experience, the event invites visitors to step into a series of immersive National Service-inspired stories through live performances, interactive missions, and after-hours activities.
Rather than following a traditional exhibition format, the experience unfolds as visitors move through different spaces. Bootcamp challenges, dramatised storytelling, live performances, night games, and themed activities each create their own atmosphere, bringing together moments of tension, humour, and camaraderie that reflect the shared experiences of National Service.
Lighting plays a key role in shaping these moments. Each area has its own character, with scenes changing to support different activities and guide visitors naturally through the experience. From dramatic theatrical performances to outdoor challenges and interactive game zones, the lighting helps define each environment without distracting from the story itself.
Casambi wireless control was used to deliver a flexible lighting solution across the event using Casambi WPM4 and casDMX. The wireless system reduced the need for extensive control cabling, making installation faster and minimising disruption across the site. It also allowed lighting to be commissioned and adjusted efficiently as different areas of the event came together.
The flexibility of the system proved especially valuable for a temporary, large-scale experience. Lighting scenes could be refined quickly, helping organisers adapt the atmosphere for live performances, interactive challenges, and changing operational needs throughout the event.
At The After Dark Chapters, lighting becomes part of the performance itself, turning an evening at the Singapore Discovery Centre into an experience that feels immersive, memorable, and unlike anything visitors encounter during the day.
